Julie Janis is the author of The Rhythmist Cycle, a YA epic fantasy series. When she's not writing she's reading for hours, exploring forests, playing the piano, and learning new skills. She lives in Utah with her husband and Aussie. You can follow her on Instagram (@juliejanisbooks) for writing updates and book love.

Well, that is my official bio, but here's a little more about me:

  • I'm obviously a fantasy writer (as you can tell). I write mainly young adult and middle grade novels.

  • I also read LOTS of fantasy! I do read young adult and middle grade books though I also delve into adult fantasy, science fiction, and the occasional romance.

  • I'm a big exercise and health enthusiast! I'm the person who wants to walk all the time, go on hikes, do tough strength training workouts while also trying out the latest healthy recipes or green drinks.

  • I've been playing the piano since I was a kid. I feel a deep connection to music, so whenever I get the chance to play, it soothes me a lot.

  • I'm an introvert. No, this does not mean I'm anti-social or I'm shy. I actually love having deep conversations with people, usually one-on-one or in small groups. I'm also not afraid to take the steps to get to know people and speak in front of a large crowd. I do, however, get quiet in large social gatherings, especially with people I don't know well. I find more comfort in the quiet of my home doing the things I love. Also, thinking of going to social gatherings makes me anxious but I'm usually glad I go.

  • I'm not a huge enneagram person, but I do like how you can get to know someone better through it. I find myself in all the types, but I believe the Enneagram 3-6-9 Triangle sums me up pretty well. This means I'm an achiever, loyalist, and peacemaker.

  • Besides stories, writing, and health and fitness, I'm also passionate about developmentally appropriate early childhood education and nature play. This is what I studied in college and I really value everything I learned and experienced in this field.

  • I'm a Christian, and I specifically belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I grew up in this religion and it means so much to me.

  • I love spending time outside, especially in nature! Soaking up the sun and being in the peace and quiet of the forest is where my heart soars.

  • While I do love staying healthy, I do have a big sweet tooth! But I only want the quality treats, so please no candy or packaged cookies from the snack aisle at the grocery store. Give me good quality ice cream or an amazing baked goody that's either from a bakery or homemade. Give me those and I'm in heaven!
